Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate nuclear and cytoplasmic positivity. Many lymphomas, few squamous cell carcinomas of skin and occasional colorectal cancers displayed strong nuclear staining. Several gliomas, renal, liver, lung, testicular and urothelial cancers were negative.
Most cancer tissues displayed moderate cytoplasmic and nuclear immunoreactivity. Several cases of colorectal, skin and testicular cancers along with a few cases of breast and ovarian cancers were strongly stained. Many cases of renal and liver cancers were weakly stained or negative.
This gene encodes a subunit of tRNA-guanine transglycosylase. tRNA-guanine transglycosylase is a heterodimeric enzyme complex that plays a critical role in tRNA modification by synthesizing the 7-deazaguanosine queuosine, which is found in tRNAs that code for asparagine, aspartic acid, histidine, and tyrosine. The encoded protein may play a role in the queuosine 5'-monophosphate salvage pathway. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.
