Most cancer cells were negative. Some of the gliomas showed strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity while cases of renal cell carcinomas exhibited strong staining in cytoplasm, nucleus and membranes. A few cases of melanomas and skin cancers were moderately stained.
Most renal cancers displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic and nuclear staining. Several gliomas showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancers were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
FABP7 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
B-FABP, BLBP
Description
Fatty acid binding protein 7, brain (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a brain fatty acid binding protein. Fatty acid binding proteins (FABPs) are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. FABPs are thought to play roles in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
