ANTIBODY IHC RELIABILITY
Data reliability description
RNA-based expert annotation gave inconclusive results. Secreted protein, tissue location of RNA and protein might differ and correlation is complex. External data suggests involvement in amelogenesis.
Several cases of duct carcinomas of breast, gliomas, melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas of cervix, papillary adenocarcinomas of thyroid, skin and pancreatic cancers displayed weak nuclear staining. Follicular adenocarcinoma of thyroid showed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.
Testicular cancers along with a few melanomas, pancreatic and breast cancers showed moderate nuclear/nucleolar immunoreactivity. Remaining cancer cells were weakly stained or negative.

Description
Amelotin (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The mineralized portions of teeth, the dentin and enamel, are formed by mesenchyme-derived odontoblasts and epithelium-derived ameloblasts, respectively. As ameloblasts differentiate, they deposit specific proteins necessary for enamel formation, including amelogenin (AMELX; MIM 300391), enamelin (ENAM; MIM 606585), and ameloblastin (AMBN; MIM 601259), in the organic enamel matrix. Amelotin is specifically expressed in maturation-stage ameloblasts (Iwasaki et al., 2005 [PubMed 16304441]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
