This score describes a knowledge-based best estimate of the protein expression in the annotated cell types as not detected (n), low (l), medium (m) or high (h). It is a result of stringent evaluation of immunohistochemical staining pattern, RNA data from internal and external sources and available protein/gene characterization data. Most normal tissues displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Trophoblasts, renal tubules, smooth muscle cells as well as a sub population of inflammatory and endocrine cells demonstrated strong cytoplasmic positivity.
Placenta showed strong cytoplasmic positivity in both trophoblastic cells and decidual cells. Glandular cells in stomach, stromal cells in uterus,smooth muscle, macrophages in lung and myocytes in heart displayed weak to moderate staining. Remaining normal tissues were negative.
Strong cytoplasmic staining was observed in trophoblastic cells, endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells. Some glandular epithelia displayed moderate cytoplasmic staining. Remaining normal tissues were in general negative.
