Staining summary

Malignant cells exhibited cytoplasmic staining of varying intensity, often both strongly stained and negative cases were found within the same tumor type. Additional positivity of luminal membranes was observed in adenocarcinomas. Most cases of carcinoids, lung, testicular, renal and liver cancers were negative.

GENE INFORMATION

Gene name

CYBRD1 (HGNC Symbol)

Synonyms

CYB561A2, DCYTB, FLJ23462, FRRS3

Description

Cytochrome b reductase 1 (HGNC Symbol)

Entrez gene summary

This gene is a member of the cytochrome b(561) family that encodes an iron-regulated protein. It highly expressed in the duodenal brush border membrane. It has ferric reductase activity and is believed to play a physiological role in dietary iron absorption. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
