Most cases of endometrial cancers along with several ovarian, breast, colorectal, cervical, renal, gastric and pancreatic cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining with distinct extracellular positivity. Remaining malignant cells were mainly negative.
The majority of malignancies displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic and/or nuclear positivity. Additional membranous staining was displayed in renal and thyroid cancers. Malignant lymphomas, skin, endometrial, stomach and liver cancers were generally negative.
Weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining was observed in most malignant cells. Several skin cancers were negative.

Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene localizes to focal adhesions, regions of the plasma membrane where the cell attaches to the extracellular matrix. This protein crosslinks actin filaments and contains a Src homology 2 (SH2) domain, which is often found in molecules involved in signal transduction. This protein is a substrate of calpain II. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2015]
