Cases of gliomas were distinctly stained. A few testis cancers showed weak nuclear staining. Moderate cytoplasmic and membranous staining was observed in a fraction of tumor cells in cases of basal cell carcinomas. Remaining cancers were negative.
Rare cases of ovarian, testis and liver cancers along with colorectal cancers, melanomas and lymphomas exhibited moderate strong cytoplasmic and/or membranous positivity. Cancer cells in general were weakly stained or negative.

The calcium-binding protein has phosphatidylinositol (PI) transfer activity and interacts with the protein tyrosine kinase PTK2B (also known as PYK2). The protein is homologous to a Drosophila protein that is implicated in the visual transduction pathway in flies. Mutations in this gene result in autosomal dominant cone dystrophy.
