ANTIBODY IHC RELIABILITY
Data reliability description
Antibody staining not consistent with RNA expression data. Caution, targets protein from more than one gene. External characterization data supports antibody staining.
A few gliomas, carcinoids, cholangiocarcinomas, thyroid, testicular, prostate, ovarian and pancreatic cancers showed weak to moderate staining. Other cancer cells were negative.
Most cancer cells displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. A few seminomas and carcinoids were strongly stained. Most hepatocellular carcinomas were negative.
Malignant tissues were in general negative or displayed moderate cytoplasmic and membranous immunoreactivity. Most staining was found in colorectal cancers, malignant melanomas and ovarian cancers.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
TUBB1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
dJ543J19.4
Description
Tubulin, beta 1 class VI (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the beta tubulin protein family. Beta tubulins are one of two core protein families (alpha and beta tubulins) that heterodimerize and assemble to form microtubules. This protein is specifically expressed in platelets and megakaryocytes and may be involved in proplatelet production and platelet release. A mutations in this gene is associated with autosomal dominant macrothrombocytopenia. Two pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosome Y.[provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]
