Weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining was observed in a majority of malignancies. A few cases of malignant gliomas were strongly stained. Skin cancer as well as several lung cancer were negative.
Most of the malignant cells displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Several lung adenocarcinomas were strongly stained. Several malignant lymphomas, gliomas, thyroid, renal and testis cancers were negative.
Malignant cells generally showed moderate cytoplasmic positivity, with additional nuclear staining in Hodgkin's lymphomas, some cervical, squamous and ovarian cancers and in one case of malignant glioma. Membranous positivity was observed in a few cases of colorectal and prostate cancers.

Entrez gene summary
Mouse studies suggest that this gene functions during normal adipose tissue development and may play a role in human triglyceride metabolism. This gene represents a candidate gene for human lipodystrophy, characterized by loss of body fat, fatty liver, hypertriglyceridemia, and insulin resistance. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
