Weak to moderate membranous and cytoplasmic immunoreactivity seen in tumor cells of adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. A majority of colorectal cancers showed strong luminal membrane positivity. Gliomas and lymphomas were negative.
Most cancer tissues displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Additional membranous staining was exhibited in colorectal, liver, testicular and pancreatic cancers. Few colorectal cancers were strongly stained. Gliomas, lymphomas, melanomas and carcinoids were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
MYH14 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
DFNA4, FLJ13881, KIAA2034, MHC16, MYH17
Description
Myosin, heavy chain 14, non-muscle (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the myosin superfamily. The protein represents a conventional non-muscle myosin; it should not be confused with the unconventional myosin-14 (MYO14). Myosins are actin-dependent motor proteins with diverse functions including regulation of cytokinesis, cell motility, and cell polarity. Mutations in this gene result in one form of autosomal dominant hearing impairment. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
