Several cases of hepatocellular, breast and colorectal carcinomas as well as a few ovarian, prostate and pancreatic cancers displayed moderate cytoplasmic/membranous immunoreactivity. Remaining cancers generally showed weak positivity or were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
HYAL4
Synonyms
Description
Hyaluronoglucosaminidase 4 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a protein which is similar in structure to hyaluronidases. Hyaluronidases intracellularly degrade hyaluronan, one of the major glycosaminoglycans of the extracellular matrix. Hyaluronan is thought to be involved in cell proliferation, migration and differentiation. However, this protein has not yet been shown to have hyaluronidase activity. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
