Weak to moderate cytoplasmic and/or membranous immunoreactivity was observed in most cancers. A few colorectal and lung cancers were strongly stained. Lymphomas, gliomas, testicular and liver cancers were generally negative.
Moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity was observed in most papillary adenocarcinomas of thyroid and renal cancers as well as several hepatocellular carcinomas and endometrial cancers. A few cases of gliomas showed strong granular immunoreactivity. Remaining cancers were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
CEP164 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
KIAA1052, NPHP15
Description
Centrosomal protein 164kDa (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a centrosomal protein involved in microtubule organization, DNA damage response, and chromosome segregation. The encoded protein is required for assembly of primary cilia and localizes to mature centrioles. Defects in this gene are a cause of nephronophthisis-related ciliopathies. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2012]
