Moderate to strong cytoplasmic and membranous positivity was displayed in a few malignant gliomas, testicular cancers and renal cancers. Remaining malignant tissues were in general negative.
Several cases of renal cell cancer, carcinoids and follicular thyroid cancer exhibited moderate to strong nuclear and cytoplasmic staining. Additional membranous positivity was noted in few cases of renal cancers. Remaining cancer tissues were mostly negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ENO2
Synonyms
Description
Enolase 2 (gamma, neuronal) (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes one of the three enolase isoenzymes found in mammals. This isoenzyme, a homodimer, is found in mature neurons and cells of neuronal origin. A switch from alpha enolase to gamma enolase occurs in neural tissue during development in rats and primates. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
