Cancer cells showed nuclear staining. Additional cytoplasmic positivity in a few cases. Most gliomas, renal and endometrial cancers displayed moderate to strong staining. Most lymphomas and lung cancers were negative.
Most cancer cells were negative or weakly stained. A majority of cases in gliomas, ovarian, endometrial and renal cancers displayed moderate to strong nuclear immunoreactivity. Distinct staining was observed in several cases of melanomas, lung and cervical cancers.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
HMGN3 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
TRIP7
Description
High mobility group nucleosomal binding domain 3 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
Thyroid hormone receptors are hormone-dependent transcription factors that regulate expression of a variety of specific target genes. The protein encoded by this gene binds thyroid hormone receptor beta, but only in the presence of thyroid hormone. The encoded protein, a member of the HMGN protein family, is thought to reduce the compactness of the chromatin fiber in nucleosomes, thereby enhancing transcription from chromatin templates. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]
