Most cancer tissues showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity, often seen with a granular pattern. Renal cancers along with several lymphomas were weakly stained or negative.
Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Several melanomas, papillary adenocarcinomas of thyroid and occasional renal cell carcinomas exhibited strong immunoreactivity. Several gliomas, lymphomas and few skin cancers were negative.
Cancer tissues displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining with additional membranous positivity in few tissues. Several cases of renal, skin, lung and prostate cancers were weakly stained or negative.
The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate (THF) in the mitochondrion. THF is important in the de novo synthesis of purines and thymidylate and in the regeneration of methionine from homocysteine. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]
