Most malignant cells showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Additional nuclear or membranous staining was observed in several cases. Several malignant melanomas along with a few colorectal, skin and testicular cancers were strongly stained. Several malignant gliomas and lymphomas were negative.
Several cases of ovarian, prostate, endometrial and renal cancers displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining with additional membranous positivity in colorectal cancers. Breast and urothelial cancers showed additional nuclear positivity. Single case of ovarian cancer was strongly stained. Remaining cancer tissues were mostly negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
USP9X (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
DFFRX, FAF, MRX99
Description
Ubiquitin specific peptidase 9, X-linked (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene is a member of the peptidase C19 family and encodes a protein that is similar to ubiquitin-specific proteases. Though this gene is located on the X chromosome, it escapes X-inactivation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Turner syndrome. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
