Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining with membranous positivity in few tissues. A single case each of melanoma and carcinoid displayed strong cytoplasmic staining. Several cases of renal cancers along with few cases of pancreas, prostate, testis, thyroid and urothelial cancers displayed additional membranous positivity. Gliomas were negative.
Most cancer cells displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Thyroid cancers and several cases of gliomas, a few cases of colorectal and cervical cancers showed strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
FLRT3
Synonyms
Description
Fibronectin leucine rich transmembrane protein 3 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the fibronectin leucine rich transmembrane protein (FLRT) family. FLRTs may function in cell adhesion and/or receptor signalling. Their protein structures resemble small leucine-rich proteoglycans found in the extracellular matrix. This gene is expressed in many tissues. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]
