Distinct plasma positivity. Cytoplasmic expression in hepatocytes, renal tubules, Leydig cells, adrenal gland and subset of neurons.
ANTIBODY IHC RELIABILITY
Data reliability description
Antibody staining mainly consistent with RNA expression data. Secreted protein, tissue location of RNA and protein might differ and correlation is complex.
Fraction of cells in a few cases of gliomas, melanomas, testicular, pancreatic and liver cancers exhibited moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Remaining cancer tissues were mostly negative.
Several cases of hepatocellular cancer, melanoma, glioma and testicular cancer displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Extracellular material and plasma were distinctly stained. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
Weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining in most gliomas, liver, melanomas, pancreatic and testis cancers. Most remaining cancers were generally negative.
Distinct plasma positivity in several cancer tissues. Moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining in several gliomas, melanomas, liver and testis cancers. A few other cases showed weak to moderate positivity but most other cancers were negative.

Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a major apoprotein of the chylomicron. It binds to a specific liver and peripheral cell receptor, and is essential for the normal catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein constituents. This gene maps to chromosome 19 in a cluster with the related apolipoprotein C1 and C2 genes. Mutations in this gene result in familial dysbetalipoproteinemia, or type III hyperlipoproteinemia (HLP III), in which increased plasma cholesterol and triglycerides are the consequence of impaired clearance of chylomicron and VLDL remnants. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]
