Most cancer cells displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining. Additional membranous positivity was observed in a few cases. A majority of cases in gliomas, testicular and prostate cancers were negative.
Melanomas and thyroid cancers along with several gliomas, hepatocellular carcinomas, urothelial, endometrial, colorectal, pancreatic and renal cancers showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. A few ovarian cancers were strongly stained. Remaining cancers were in general negative.
Melanomas, colorectal and breast cancers along with several gliomas, skin, pancreatic, endometrial, urothelial and cervical cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancer cells were in general weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ABCB10 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
EST20237, M-ABC2, MTABC2
Description
ATP-binding cassette, sub-family B (MDR/TAP), member 10 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The membrane-associated protein encoded by this gene is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the MDR/TAP subfamily. Members of the MDR/TAP subfamily are involved in multidrug resistance. The function of this mitochondrial protein is unknown.
