Hepatocellular carcinomas and gastric cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Moderate to strong cytoplasmic and membranous staining was observed in pancreatic cancers. Colorectal cancers along with a few cases of ovarian, prostate and lung cancers showed moderate staining. Remaining cancer tissues were in general negative.
Weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity with a granular pattern was observed in most cancer tissues. Hepatocellular carcinomas along with a few cases of lymphomas, adenocarcinomas of lung, colorectal, urothelial and pancreatic cancers were strongly stained.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
VPS36 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
C13orf9, CGI-145, Eap45
Description
Vacuolar protein sorting 36 homolog (S. cerevisiae) (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a protein that is a subunit of the endosomal sorting complex required for transport II (ESCRT-II). This protein complex functions in sorting of ubiquitinated membrane proteins during endocytosis. A similar protein complex in rat is associated with RNA polymerase elongation factor II.
