Cancer tissues showed moderate nuclear positivity with additional cytoplasmic staining in many cases. A few cases of melanomas along with occasional hepatocellular carcinomas and urothelial cancers were strongly stained. Most cases of lymphomas were negative or weakly stained.
Malignant cells exhibited moderate cytoplasmic positivity often accompanied by membranous and nuclear staining. A few cases of malignant melanomas and colorectal cancers along with occasional ovarian and endometrial cancers were strongly positive. Several renal and testicular cancers were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
OSBPL1A (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
ORP-1, ORP1, OSBPL1B
Description
Oxysterol binding protein-like 1A (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP) family, a group of intracellular lipid receptors. Most members contain an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain and a highly conserved C-terminal OSBP-like sterol-binding domain, although some members contain only the sterol-binding domain. Transcript variants derived from alternative promoter usage and/or alternative splicing exist; they encode different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
