Weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity often combined with nuclear staining was observed in a majority of malignancies. Most skin cancers as well as several cases of for example malignant glioma and lymphoma were negative.
Malignant tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining. Skin, renal and gastric cancers were mainly negative.

However, upon stress to the ER, the encoded protein is cleaved and the released cytoplasmic transcription factor domain translocates to the nucleus.
