Cancer tissues showed weak to moderate nuclear positivity with additional cytoplasmic staining in several cases. Several cases of squamous cell carcinomas of cervix and a few cases of colorectal cancers showed strong positivity. Several carcinoids were negative.
Lymphomas, carcinoids, colorectal, breast, thyroid, skin, urothelial, pancreatic cancers and cervical cancers displayed moderate to strong nuclear staining with additional cytoplasmic positivity in a few cases. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
GBP2
Synonyms
Description
Guanylate binding protein 2, interferon-inducible (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene belongs to the guanine-binding protein (GBP) family, which includes interferon-induced proteins that can bind to guanine nucleotides (GMP, GDP and GTP). The encoded protein is a GTPase which hydrolyzes GTP, predominantly to GDP. The protein may play a role as a marker of squamous cell carcinomas. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]
