Cytoplasmic expression most abundant in heart and skeletal muscle.
ANTIBODY IHC RELIABILITY
Data reliability description
Antibody staining mainly consistent with RNA expression data. Caution, targets protein from more than one gene. Presumed off target binding observed and disregarded.
Most cancer tissues exhibited weak to moderate cytoplasmic and nuclear immunoreactivity. Additional membranous staining was observed in colorectal cancers. Follicular adenocarcinoma of thyroid and a few renal cancers were strongly stained. Several lung and prostate cancers were negative.
Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Squamous and basal cell carcinomas were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
PGAM2 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
PGAM-M
Description
Phosphoglycerate mutase 2 (muscle) (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
Phosphoglycerate mutase (PGAM) catalyzes the reversible reaction of 3-phosphoglycerate (3-PGA) to 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PGA) in the glycolytic pathway. The PGAM is a dimeric enzyme containing, in different tissues, different proportions of a slow-migrating muscle (MM) isozyme, a fast-migrating brain (BB) isozyme, and a hybrid form (MB). This gene encodes muscle-specific PGAM subunit. Mutations in this gene cause muscle phosphoglycerate mutase eficiency, also known as glycogen storage disease X. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
