Malignant tissues displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity with additional nuclear staining in many cases. A few cases of colorectal and liver cancers exhibited strong staining. Several cases of renal, prostate, urothelial and testicular cancers were negative.
Colorectal cancers, several cases of malignant glioma, lung cancers, pancreatic and liver cancers showed moderate cytoplasmic positivity with additional nuclear staining in some cases. A few cases of prostatic and hepatocellular carcinomas showed strong immunoreactivity. Remaining malignant tissues were weakly stained or generally negative.
The enzyme mevalonate pyrophosphate decarboxylase catalyzes the conversion of mevalonate pyrophosphate into isopentenyl pyrophosphate in one of the early steps in cholesterol biosynthesis. It decarboxylates and dehydrates its substrate while hydrolyzing ATP. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
