Few cases of gliomas showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Moderate nuclear positivity was displayed in a few melanomas. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
A majority of cancers showed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. A few cases of melanomas, liver and endometrial cancers showed strong immunoreactivity.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
THOP1
Synonyms
Description
Thimet oligopeptidase 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a kininase that uses zinc as a cofactor. The encoded oligopeptidase cleaves cytosolic peptides, making them unavailable for display on antigen-presenting cells. This protein also cleaves neuropeptides under 20 aa in length and can degrade beta-amyloid precursor protein to amyloidogenic peptides. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]
