Cancer tissues showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic and membranous staining. Carcinoid, thyroid cancers along with several cases of glioma, renal and liver cancers were negative.
A majority of cancer tissues showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining and additional nuclear positivity in a few cases. Distinct membranous positivity was seen in colorectal cancers. Several cases of melanomas, renal and testicular cancers were negative.
Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining with additional nuclear positivity in a few cases. Several colorectal and ovarian cancers were strongly stained. Most lymphomas were negative.

Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene can polymerize and depolymerize F-actin and G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. Increased phosphorylation of this protein by LIM kinase aids in Rho-induced reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. Cofilin is a widely distributed intracellular actin-modulating protein that binds and depolymerizes filamentous F-actin and inhibits the polymerization of monomeric G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. It is involved in the translocation of actin-cofilin complex from cytoplasm to nucleus.[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004]
