Few hepatocellular along with rare lung cancers showed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Blood vessels / endothelial cells were distinctly stained. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
A majority of cancer tissues displayed weak to moderate membranous and/or nuclear positivity with additional cytoplasmic positivity in a few cases. Gliomas, lymphomas along with several cases of prostate, liver and renal cancers were negative.
The protein encoded by this gene may play a role in the attachment of stem cells to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or to stromal cells. This single-pass membrane protein is highly glycosylated and phosphorylated by protein kinase C. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
