Antibody staining mainly not consistent with RNA expression data. Secreted protein, tissue location of RNA and protein might differ and correlation is complex.
Hepatocellular carcinomas showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity with a granular staining pattern. A few colorectal and breast cancers were moderately stained. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
A majority of renal cancers displayed strong cytoplasmic positivity while most remaining cancer tissues were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ANGPT2 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
Ang2
Description
Angiopoietin 2 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is an antagonist of angiopoietin 1 (ANGPT1) and endothelial TEK tyrosine kinase (TIE-2, TEK). The encoded protein disrupts the vascular remodeling ability of ANGPT1 and may induce endothelial cell apoptosis. Three transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
