A majority of gliomas, basal cell carcinomas and colorectal cancers displayed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Additional membranous staining was observed in a few stomach and colorectal cancers. Remaining cancers were in general weakly stained or negative.
Most cancers displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining combined with membranous positivity in several cases. Most lymphomas and seminomas along with cases of melanomas, urothelial, ovarian, prostate and colorectal cancers were strongly positive. Most gliomas, renal, urothelial and liver cancers were negative.
This gene encodes an enzyme that oxidizes methionine residues on actin, thereby promoting depolymerization of actin filaments. This protein interacts with and regulates signalling by NEDD9/CAS-L (neural precursor cell expressed, developmentally down-regulated 9). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
