Cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Additional nuclear and/or membranous positivity was found in a few cases. Thyroid cancers and occasional cases of ovarian and cervical adenocarcinomas showed strong cytoplasmic and nuclear staining. Several cancers were negative in a majority of cases e.g. renal cancers, gliomas, lymphomas and melanomas.
A majority of the cancer tissues displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic and occasional nuclear positivity. Several cases of prostate and thyroid cancers as well as occasional cases of endometrial and pancreatic cancers showed strong staining. Most gliomas and lymphomas were negative.

Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the annexin family. Members of this calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein family play a role in the regulation of cellular growth and in signal transduction pathways. This protein functions in the inhibition of phopholipase A2 and cleavage of inositol 1,2-cyclic phosphate to form inositol 1-phosphate. This protein may also play a role in anti-coagulation.
