Renal cancer, most hepatocellular carcinomas and occasional cases of urothelial cancers exhibited moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancer tissues along with stroma were weakly stained or negative.
Several renal cell carcinomas along with few hepatocellular carcinomas and urothelial cancers showed moderate cytoplasmic and nuclear positivity. Other cancer tissues were negative.
This gene encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. Defects in this gene could lead to hyperhomocyst(e)inemia, but such a defect has not yet been observed. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
