Most cancer cells showed weak to moderate immunoreactivity. Hepatocellular carcinomas and colorectal cancers displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Pancreatic cancers, lymphomas and gliomas were generally negative.
Moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity with a granular pattern was observed in most cancer cells. Carcinoids, melanomas, colorectal, prostate and liver cancers displayed strong cytoplasmic positivity. A few cases of skin, urothelial, pancreatic and renal cancers were weakly stained or negative.
Cancer cells were mainly negative. Most colorectal cancers and gliomas showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining. Most of the remaining cancers were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
CPT2 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
CPT1, CPTASE
Description
Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear protein which is transported to the mitochondrial inner membrane. Together with carnitine palmitoyltransferase I, the encoded protein oxidizes long-chain fatty acids in the mitochondria. Defects in this gene are associated with mitochondrial long-chain fatty-acid (LCFA) oxidation disorders. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
