Gliomas and prostate cancer showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Moderate staining was observed in breast cancer and several cases of lymphomas, colorectal, thyroid, testicular and renal cancers. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
Cancer tissues showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Additional membranous staining was observed in several colorectal along with a few skin and pancreatic cancers. A few liver and pancreatic cancers showed additional nuclear staining.
The protein encoded by this gene has an N-terminus that is similar to the multicopy associated filamentation (maf) protein of Bacillus subtilis and to orfE of Escherichia coli, while the C-terminus is similar to N-acetylserotonin O-methyltransferase. This gene is located in the pseudoautosomal region 1 (PAR1) of X and Y chromosomes. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
