Several cases of colorectal cancers along with a few cases of gastric and pancreatic cancers exhibited moderate cytoplasmic and/or membranous positivity. Remaining tumors were negative.
Moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining with additional membranous positivity in few cases was observed in carcinoids, skin, urothelial, cervical and head and neck cancers. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
PPFIA3 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
KIAA0654, LPNA3, MGC126567, MGC126569
Description
Protein tyrosine phosphatase, receptor type, f polypeptide (PTPRF), interacting protein (liprin), alpha 3 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the LAR protein-tyrosine phosphatase-interacting protein (liprin) family. Liprins interact with members of LAR family of transmembrane protein tyrosine phosphatases, which are known to be important for axon guidance and mammary gland development. Liprin family protein has been shown to localize phosphatase LAR to cell focal adhesions and may be involved in the molecular organization of presynaptic active zones. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
