Distinct expression in a subset of hepatocytes and positivity in plasma.
ANTIBODY IHC RELIABILITY
Data reliability description
Antibody staining mainly consistent with RNA expression data. Secreted protein, tissue location of RNA and protein might differ and correlation is complex.
Most of the cancer tissues displayed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Isolated cases of hepatocellular carcinomas, breast, cervical, endometrial, pancreatic and stomach cancers showed strong staining. Several gliomas, lymphomas, melanomas, lung and skin cancers were negative.
Cancer tissues displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity in fraction of tumor cells. Lymphomas along with majority cases of gliomas, melanomas, endometrial, breast, renal, testicular, urothelial, squamous and basal cell carcinomas were weakly stained or negative.
Cancer tissues were generally negative. Cases of pancreatic, gastric and liver cancers exhibited moderate cytoplasmic positivity.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
F2
Synonyms
Description
Coagulation factor II (thrombin) (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
Coagulation factor II is proteolytically cleaved to form thrombin in the first step of the coagulation cascade which ultimately results in the stemming of blood loss. F2 also plays a role in maintaining vascular integrity during development and postnatal life. Peptides derived from the C-terminus of this protein have antimicrobial activity against E. coli and P. aeruginosa. Mutations in F2 lead to various forms of thrombosis and dysprothrombinemia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]
