Rare cases of gliomas, colorectal and pancreatic cancers displayed moderate cytoplasmic and nuclear positivity. A few cases of breast and renal cancers showed weak cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancer tissues were in general negative.
Several cases of endometrial, ovarian, cervical, lung and testicular cancers displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity and additional nuclear positivity in a few cases. Most remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
GNB5 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
GB5
Description
Guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein), beta 5 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins), which integrate signals between receptors and effector proteins, are composed of an alpha, a beta, and a gamma subunit. These subunits are encoded by families of related genes. This gene encodes a beta subunit. Beta subunits are important regulators of alpha subunits, as well as of certain signal transduction receptors and effectors. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
