A majority of malignant tissues displayed moderate to strong membranous immunoreactivity, accompanied with weaker cytoplasmic staining. High-grade tumors showed less degree of membranous positivity and stronger cytoplasmic staining.
Most malignancies showed weak cytoplasmic staining or were negative. Colorectal, endometrial and prostate displayed moderate positivity in a subset of cases.

Description
Tight junction protein 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a protein located on a cytoplasmic membrane surface of intercellular tight junctions. The encoded protein may be involved in signal transduction at cell-cell junctions. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]
