Malignant cells displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity with additional membranous and nucleolar staining in several tissues. Several cases of renal, cervical and lung cancers were weakly stained or negative.
Cancer tissues exhibited weak to moderate nuclear and/or cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Colorectal cancers displayed additional cytoplasmic membranous positivity. Lymphomas and few cases of renal cancer were strongly stained. Several cases of liver cancer were negative.
Most cancer tissues showed moderate nuclear positivity, with additional cytoplasmic staining in breast, liver and renal cancers. Few urothelial cancers were strongly stained.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
EXOSC9 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
p5, p6, PM/Scl-75, PMSCL1, RRP45, Rrp45p
Description
Exosome component 9 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a component of the human exosome, a exoribonuclease complex which processes and degrades RNA in the nucleus and cytoplasm. This component may play a role in mRNA degradation and the polymyositis/scleroderma autoantigen complex. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
