Malignant lymphomas, melanomas, thyroid and skin cancers along with several malignant gliomas, ovarian, cervical and lung cancers showed weak to moderate membranous and cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Remaining malignancies were in general negative.
Malignant glioma, lymphoma and melanoma along with a few cases of liver, urothelial and endometrial cancers displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining. Serous cystadenocarcinoma of ovary was moderately stained in the cytoplasmic membrane. Remaining malignant cells were negative.
Most of the cancer tissues displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Malignant carcinoids, gliomas, colorectal, breast, prostate and gastric cancers were weakly stained or negative.

Entrez gene summary
Moesin (for membrane-organizing extension spike protein) is a member of the ERM family which includes ezrin and radixin. ERM proteins appear to function as cross-linkers between plasma membranes and actin-based cytoskeletons. Moesin is localized to filopodia and other membranous protrusions that are important for cell-cell recognition and signaling and for cell movement. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
