Distinct positivity in plasma, extracellular matrix and proximal renal tubules.
ANTIBODY IHC RELIABILITY
Data reliability description
Caution, targets protein from more than one gene. Secreted protein, tissue location of RNA and protein might differ and correlation is complex. Antibody staining in cells/structures not annotated, view images.
A few cases of carcinoids, liver, renal, ovarian, colorectal and testicular cancers along with occasional cases of gastric and pancreatic cancers displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic and occasional nuclear staining. Remaining cancer cells were negative. Plasma was distinctly stained.
A few cases of hepatocellular carcinomas, colorectal, breast, testicular and urothelial cancers along with occasional cases of renal cancers and melanomas showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancer cells were negative.
Several cases of liver cancers and a rare case of carcinoid displayed moderate cytoplasmic staining with additional membranous positivity in a few cases. Remaining cancer cells were weakly stained or generally negative.
This gene encodes a secreted protein belonging to the complement factor H protein family. It binds to Pseudomonas aeruginosa elongation factor Tuf together with plasminogen, which is proteolytically activated. It is proposed that Tuf acts as a virulence factor by acquiring host proteins to the pathogen surface, controlling complement, and facilitating tissue invasion. Mutations in this gene are associated with an increased risk of atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
