Most malignant cells showed weak to moderate membranous and cytoplasmic staining. Strong positivity was observed in several pancreatic cancers along with a few breast, prostate, liver and urothelial cancers. Malignant gliomas, lymphomas and testicular cancers were negative.
A fraction of tumor cells in rare cases of colorectal and endometrial cancers showed moderate cytoplasmic staining. Rare cases of hepatocellular carcinomas and testis cancers displayed moderate membranous and cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancers tissues were negative.

Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a component of the complement cascade. The encoded protein is part of the membrane attack complex that can be incorporated into the cell membrane and cause cell lysis. Mutations in this gene are associated with complement component-6 deficiency. Transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]
