The majority of cancer tissues displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic and membranous positivity. Gliomas, lymphomas, melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas, testicular and urothelial cancers were generally negative.
Cancer tissues displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity with additional nuclear positivity in several cases. Colorectal cancers showed additional membranous staining. Strong staining was observed in hepatocellular carcinomas and a few cases of urothelial, skin, endometrial and colorectal cancers. Several cases of lymphomas and lung cancers were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ABLIM1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
ABLIM, LIMAB1, limatin
Description
Actin binding LIM protein 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a cytoskeletal LIM protein that binds to actin filaments via a domain that is homologous to erythrocyte dematin. LIM domains, found in over 60 proteins, play key roles in the regulation of developmental pathways. LIM domains also function as protein-binding interfaces, mediating specific protein-protein interactions. The protein encoded by this gene could mediate such interactions between actin filaments and cytoplasmic targets. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
